The format

Not another revision lecture.

Every candidate gets placed in the Hot Seat and works through an unseen case. The emphasis is on clinical reasoning, prioritisation, safe management and delivering a clear answer under viva conditions.

01

Unseen case

You are given a neuro-ophthalmology or strabismus scenario without knowing the diagnosis in advance.

02

Viva questioning

Work through assessment, differential diagnosis, investigations and management in real time.

03

Immediate feedback

Receive targeted feedback on knowledge, reasoning, structure and exam technique.

Mr Jonathan Schioeler-Marler FRCOphth
Consultant Neuro-Ophthalmologist and Strabismus surgeon

Consultant-led teaching focused on practical neuro-ophthalmic and strabismus reasoning, and on performing effectively under viva conditions.

The aim is not simply to tell you whether an answer is correct. It is to help you structure your thinking, prioritise the important points and communicate your answer effectively in an oral examination.

FAQ

Before you book.

Who is this for?

Ophthalmology trainees and other candidates preparing for the FRCOphth Part 2 Oral examination who want active viva practice in neuro-ophthalmology or strabismus.

Will I definitely be questioned?

Yes. The format is deliberately limited to 15 candidates per session so that every attendee gets a Hot Seat case.

What will happen if a session is not fully booked?

The session will still run for the full 3 hours. If fewer than 15 candidates attend, some candidates will get a second turn in the Hot Seat.

Is this a lecture?

No. Teaching arises from the cases and feedback. The core of the session is active viva-style questioning.

How is the session delivered?

Live online. The joining link will be sent to the email address you used when paying, before the session.

Will the session be transcribed?

We transcribe the session so we can write personal feedback notes for each candidate. After the session we will share these notes, covering what went well and what to improve, so you do not need to take notes during the session. The transcript is used only for this purpose and is deleted within 4 weeks.

What is the cancellation policy?

Full refund: cancel at least 7 days before the session starts.

50% refund: cancel less than 7 days, but at least 48 hours, before the session starts.

No refund: cancel less than 48 hours before the session starts, or do not attend.

To cancel, email lunaclinical@yahoo.com from the address you booked with, saying which session you are cancelling. Your cancellation counts from the time we receive your email. Refunds go back to the card you paid with and usually take 5–10 working days to appear.

If we have to cancel or reschedule a session, you will be offered a full refund or a place at the new date.
